At left is a female genital piercing called a "triangle" piercing. It is not a horizontal clitoral hood piercing with a barbell, although it looks like one. The difference is, clitoral hood piercings are performed in the tissue above the clitoris, with the jewelry resting on top of the clitoris. A triangle piercing, on the other hand, situates the jewelry under the entire clitoral shaft. A triangle piercing provides stimulation under the clitoris simultaneously with any external stimulation of the clitoris, thereby possibly enhancing the woman's pleasure. However, this is considered to be an advanced piercing suitable for only certain female anatomies; if improperly performed by an amateur piercer, nerves within the clitoral shaft could be severed resulting in permanent loss of sensation. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
